Kara (KAH-ra) Powers is a Black queer/bisexual audiobook narrator who excels in narrating fantasy, romance, and science fiction. She loves portraying ordinary women learning to fight, lead, and love in extraordinary circumstances.Since graduating college, where she performed musical theatre and toured six continents with award-winning singing groups, Kara has studied acting with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She has training in Spanish and French, and an affinity for British and romance language accents.Kara brings her eclectic professional experience to her nonfiction narration — with backgrounds in public policy, marketing software, clean energy, and U.S. labor history. She follows women’s basketball and soccer, and enjoys hiking, baking, and martial arts — or at least watching them online.Kara records in Reaper from a home studio treated with ATS Acoustics panels, on an AT875R mic and Scarlett Solo interface.
